Grace Joy Reid grew up as an Army Brat and a CK, a Chaplain’s kid. She started accompanying military chapel services regularly at the age of eleven at Fort Riley, Kansas. She’s been an accompanist for several choirs, church services, instrumentalists, and opera singers. She’s performed in concerts and memorial services across the United States, Germany, and the Philippines. She has earned her Bachelor of Music Degree at Kansas State University, majoring in piano and minoring in violin, and studied piano with Dr. Robert Edwards, and studied piano performance with Mr. Lazlo Lak at Biola University in La Mirada, CA. She is a composer and arranger and has maintained a private piano studio for over twenty years. A member and former District of Columbia Branch President of the National League of American Pen Women, she is on the Board of the Woodbridge Music Club, and an ASCAP member. She is a regular pianist at local churches in Northern Virginia. She’s performed at nursing homes across the United States for over 30 years. She has earned her Advanced Professional General Music Studies Certificate from Berklee School of Music in the Spring of 2020. The classes she completed are: Music Notation and Score Preparation using Finale, Arranging I: Rhythm Section, Music Production 101, Arranging Contemporary Styles, Ableton Live Fundamentals, Blues and Rock Keyboard Techniques, Jazz Piano, Contemporary Techniques in Music Composition I, and Contemporary Techniques in Music Composition II. In January of 2021, Grace was accepted into the Veterans in Residence 21A cohort. This is a six-month entrepreneur incubator partnership with BunkerLabs and WeWork. Most importantly, she is blessed to be able to spend time with her husband and three, adult children, cooking healthy meals, and walking outdoors.
